FAQ

What is a yarn crawl?

The Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl is a self-guided tour of our 9 participating local yarn stores in the area. Take a day, or take 4, while making your way around to as many stores as you can. Each store will have special events, yarn, and/or other demonstrations, and will have a featured knitting & crochet kit for sale. Carry along your yarn crawl passport and have it stamped at each store along the way. Oh and don’t forget to purchase your yarn crawl swag so you can crawl in style 😋.

How do I get a featured pattern?
Featured patterns will be free with the purchase of the featured yarn or kit. Meaning if you would like the pattern you need to buy the yarn for it. This year we have a different free gift for all participants that will not require a purchase. Read more below…

What’s this I hear about a free gift?
Each shop has a stitch marker as a thank you for your visit. These stitch markers are free for everyone who comes in and we’d love you to collect them all!

How does the passport work?
Pre-print your passport, get it stamped at every store you go to between Sept 21th - 24th, then turn it in at your last store to be entered to win prize baskets. The more stores you visit, the larger the prize basket you could win. Check back closer to September for the passport link!

Will you ship my prize to me if I win?
Yes, we will draw the winners in the days following the crawl and if you don’t live in the area we will ship your prize to you.

How do I buy swag?
Each store participating in the crawl will have a limited number of swag items available for purchase during the crawl. Pick one up at your first stop on the 21st! If we open swag preorders, it will be posted on our social media, website and an email will go out.

How should I decide which stores to go to?
Of course we’d love you to visit all nine participating stores, but we understand that other life plans might make that unachievable for you. You can visit the Events page on our website to see what special things each store is planning, go to our Stores page for links to all the participating stores so you can investigate the yarns they carry, or think about the beautiful landscapes our stores sit in and how scenic your drive around them will be.

What are the hours of the crawl?
Each store will be open a minimum of 10-6 Thursday to Saturday and 10-6 on Sunday. Check with a store individually to see if they will have extended hours or any other evening events.
